Office of the Dean Students' Welfare
The office of the Dean Students’ Welfare looks after students’ welfare in numerous ways and also monitors various cultural/sports and academic activities. Some specific important works of this office are as follows: -
- Providing of Bus/Railway passes facility
A major work of the office is facilitating students to travel to the University and back. The office as such arranges for bus and railway passes for students in large numbers. The process involves various stages of cash collection, deposit, preparation and distribution. This facility both in the case of bus passes and railway passes has now been made very smooth and time bound.
- Providing financial aid to students
The office of the D.S.W also arranges by recommending to the Vice-Chancellor financial aid to the needy and physically handicapped students. This process involves assessing and verifying details and actual disbursement.
- Funding of Educational/Cultural Tours
Students are encouraged to undertake trips to places of educational and historical importance. These trips are organized in a manner so as to develop leadership qualities and an attitude of cooperating with others. Above all the trips are expected to enable students to appreciate other cultures, societies and languages. Fifty percent of expenditure incurred is funded by the Dean Students’ Welfare.
- Earn While You Learn Scheme
This novel scheme provides for 50 students to be engaged for Department related work for 20 hours a week at Rs. 100/- per hour. The selection is done in a strictly enforced transparent manner. The basic criterion being academic merit and financial need. Physically challenged students are particularly encouraged to apply. The spirit of the scheme is based on the idea of enabling needy students to meet educational expenses with dignity.
- Arranging of inter-disciplinary and guest lectures
The office of D.S.W. also provides financial assistance for arranging guest lectures in the different University Teaching Departments as well as inter-disciplinary lectures.
- 6. Sports facilities
The D.S.W office looks after the sports activities of the University Teaching Departments. Sports material is purchased every year to facilitate the students for playing different type of sports/games.
- Cultural activities
The DSW office organizes the Haryana Day and Youth Culture Programme of U.T.D. students. Teams of students are selected for these functions. The Dean Students’ Welfare as Vice-Chairman of the Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University Cultural Council also monitors the smooth functioning of the University cultural activities.
- Common Rooms
Separate Common Rooms for boys and girls are maintained at several places on the campus. Large number of newspapers/magazines and other equipments are provided.
- N.S.S. Activities
This office observes the Communal Harmony Campaign, fund raising week and Flag Day every year. The N.S.S. students are invited to participate in the Poster Making Competition and Slogan Writing Competitions. In addition routine N.S.S. activities are undertaken.

This office extended financial help as and when the functions are arranged
by the various University Teaching Departments.
- Youth Red Cross Unit
Youth Red Cross Unit has been started in this University w.e.f. 2010-2011 for the students of University Teaching Departments as per guidelines supplied by the Indian Red Cross Society, Haryana State Branch. Youths are the pillars and future leaders of the country. In our country the age group between 15 to 35 is considered as youth. To attain a conducive environment for healthy physical, moral and intellectual growth of the youth, Red Cross has been provided as an additional platform.
